MAKE JAZZ TRILL AGAIN
Founded by vocalist, flutist, and producer Melanie Charles in 2016, Make Jazz Trill Again is a movement dedicated to bringing jazz back to the people. Rooted in community and culture, the project reimagines jazz not as a museum piece, but as a living, breathing force that belongs in the streets, on the dance floor, and in everyday life.
As Melanie shares, “I love jazz, I really fell in love with it deeply. But I was interested in young people interacting with it.” With that vision, Make Jazz Trill Again creates inclusive, intergenerational spaces where musicians, DJs, and community members come together to jam, collaborate, and celebrate freedom of expression.
The initiative has expanded to include Trill Mega Jams, a series of high-energy, open jam sessions that break down barriers between artists and audiences, and the Make Jazz Trill Again Podcast, where conversations with musicians, cultural workers, and thinkers highlight the ongoing evolution of jazz and its role in our lives today.
As a core collaborator, Yunie Mojica helps shape the vision and execution of these programs. Supporting in producing events, curating conversations, and performing as a musician. Her role ensures that Make Jazz Trill Again remains a space of authenticity, community, and innovation, grounded in the foundation of jazz while pushing the music forward.
